YouTube Channel of the Month: Thoughty2

Each month, I present one of my favorite YouTube channels. This month’s channel is again one of the channels I am subscribed to for quite a while. It might not surprise you that is also has something to do with learning new things. Or well, understanding new things, as without practice there is no learning =).

The channel I want to present is called Thoughty2. On his channel, Arran (I suppose that is his name^^) describes himself as a British YouTuber and gatekeeper of useless facts. He creates mind-blowing factual videos, on the weirdest, wackiest and most interesting topics. Useless? Maybe sometimes. But, in general, they are not only entertaining though also interesting. Learning something about myself and others (e.g. in his latest video on why procrastination is actually good for you) cannot be seen as useless.

I like his level of research. You might also know that from my other articles and what I value when it comes to “trusting” knowledge. I also like that he often tries to infuse some of his sometimes special humor. I think his voice is pleasant to listen to what is also important for me.

But why I subscribed to his channel is the variety of topics and how he presents them. He tries to explain some of our own thoughts and behaviors when he speaks about why we believe in conspiracy theories. Or when he investigates important topics such as if the world is more dangerous than ever or how school makes kids dumb. And yes, many of his titles read and feel like click-bait, but unfortunately, all YouTubers have to compete for our attention, and I don’t blame those who apply this technique as long as what they present is worth my while.

I bet there are at least a bunch of videos that will be of interest to you. Please have a look and decide for yourself. I am quite certain you won’t regret it =).

I will leave you with one of my favorite videos from his channel:

Take care, Stephan
