Travel to Chile – IX

This is the ninth part of my travel blog about Chile. If you want to start with the first entry, you can click here. If you are interested in the last entry, you will find it here.

In yesterday’s blog, I wrote that I met with one of the founders of that burger joint called Holy Moly. I arrived a little after they closed their shop for the day. As Danny was still cleaning up, I spoke to one of the other founders. His name is Jesus. They all are from Venezuela and know each other for quite a while. Danny and Jesus even since they were little.

We spoke a bit about everything and were listening to SEEED, a famous Berlin band. I was not surprised that they liked the music =).

Around 12 o’clock midnight when we left the restaurant. Danny and I headed to a bar close by. It is amazing how quickly you can connect with another person when both are curious and open-minded. We spoke about everything that matters to us. We spoke about love and what he needs and what I need when it comes to love. We spoke about past relationships and how they influence us.

We spoke about what makes us happy, what we are grateful for. He shared a lot from his life and it was amazing to see what he has experienced already. He lived in Panama, being very poor, only to move to Argentina later on to be a regional manager. His attitude towards life and how he deals with uncertainty are very interesting. He knows, that as long he knows where he wants to get ultimately, he is also fine if that meant he needed to start all over tomorrow, cleaning floors.

It is such a wonderful thing to speak to a person who has experienced so much in his/her life but remains humble knowing he/she has still a lot to learn. I will try to take him as an example, especially when it comes to overcoming fears. I am very grateful that he had an open ear and open heart for a total stranger. We spoke until 2:30 in the morning and I left the bar feeling just a little bit tipsy and a lot more grateful. Thanks Danny!

If you just happen to be in Santiago, pay them a visit. You won’t regret it! =)

Have a wonderful day and take care!

Stephan
