Travel to Chile – VI

This is the sixth part of my travel blog about Chile. If you want to start with the first entry, you can click here. If you are interested in the last entry, you will find it here.

Today, I want to make good on my promise and show you some more pictures from the wine festival in Chillán. I’d like to start with how I ended yesterday’s entry, the Chinchineros. On Saturday, I managed to take a video of them during day time. Enjoy =)

Moreover, I want to give you an overview of the different dishes that were available. This list is definitely not exhaustive but shows a nice variety. The first image is the stand where my friend and I got huge amounts of caramelized almonds. On a Berlin Christmas market, those would be three to four times more expensive than here.

The next images depict some dishes we didn’t try. The first one is a clam dish, the second one is paella, and the third image is beef and chicken on a stick.

Next, I want to give you some impressions from the wine stands.

You can buy a glass at one of the stands for 2000 Chilean Pesos (2,70€). With that glass, you are allowed to try every wine you want. Some pour in quite a lot, so even if you don’t buy any wine, you could get drunk. And you could get drunk quickly^^. I am glad there was enough food available to have a strong basis. I only tried dry red wines, as I was looking for a wine for my dad, but they have all kinds of red and white wines. If I manage to come back here, I will spend one day trying all the red ones, and one day all the white ones.

If you happen to be in Chile next year in April, think about stopping by Chillán for a wonderful experience. And bring your friends and family. You won’t regret it =) !

Have a wonderful day and take care!

Stephan
