36 Questions to fall in love – XIV

I think it is only fair that you get to know me a little bit better to understand how I think and how my brain works in order to put my writings into perspective and to draw your own conclusions. This is why I, once about every ten days, answer one of the questions from the New York Times question series: 36 Questions – How to fall in love.

If you want to start at the very beginning, you can find question 1 here.

And if you just missed the last answer to question 13, you can find it here.

Question number 14 reads as follows:

Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?

There are actually a few things I dreamed of doing, but didn’t do so far. Though, the first thought that popped-up was that I want to visit Canada. With Canada it is similar to Ireland. For both countries I have a secret passion since I was young. But only last year I was able to visit Ireland to see if my fascination and my imagination would match the original. How it was for Ireland, you can read in my entry: An unplanned trip to Dublin.

There are three cities in Canada I’d like to visit. The first one is Montreal, the second is Toronto, and the third is Vancouver. But I could also imagine to drive around and to discover the beautiful nature. The country has so much to offer and it is also said that its citizens are quite polite, too. Something I find very appealing =).

Why didn’t I do it yet? Well, one part was money. Going to Canada and maybe visiting the east and the west coast will not only mean several long-distance flights, but in order to really discover the country, I need at least three weeks. Probably more. Another part is time. So far, I didn’t really have the time (once I had enough money). I was either busy on projects or I planned another vacation somewhere else. The third point is actually a bit obsolete. In the past, I was convinced that I need at least another person to travel with me to enjoy the trip and not to get bored. Since my trip to Dublin my opinion changed a bit. Although three to four weeks might be a whole other level than 5-6 days.

I actually wanted to go do visit a friend of mine this year. But it seems as if her plans changed a bit. I still want to do it. Hopefully, I will be able to visit it soon.

Is there something you have dreamed of doing for a long time and didn’t do? What is it? Let me know in the comments below.

Have a wonderful day and take care!

Stephan
