What helped me to get better?

I am on a very good way to be the person I want to be again. It was a difficult and long road and although I am not quite there yet, I think about what helped me to get better.

There are several reasons I discovered so far, but I want to focus on one thing in particular. A couple of weeks ago, I spoke to a friend from Egypt and we were chatting a bit about our recent fate and what helps us. Back then, she said a very interesting thing what helped her. She said that what helped her is taking life easy and to try to think about things that are positive and at the same time don’t play a big role in life. Like focusing on nature or an afternoon spent just watching or reading stuff. She further said that it helped her to not focus too much on other areas in her life even if they are positive things.

This was a rather counterintuitive thought, because I thought that I should bring into my life as much positivity as possible. Nevertheless, I tried it out myself. Before that I focused on where I need to apply, where I want to live and how I can get my love life in order. So, I stopped focusing on those things as best as I could. What happened was that I felt more at ease. I knew I had to change something, but maybe I was approaching it the wrong way. I read a lot more, and I meditated a lot more and I didn’t think so much about my current job and what else I want to do. I mean those thoughts were and are still there, but I don’t give them so much attention.

Reducing what I think and reflect about and what I “have to” change made it easier to gain back energy and to start being more balanced again. This also helped to accelerate the progress of getting better. However, I am still careful not to take on too much and to think too much ahead. When I do, I listen into my body and how I feel. This way I can determine, if I am ready or not to take the next step. I know there are plenty of questions which wait to be addressed, but taking it slow helps me to build up strength and energy to tackle them.
