36 Questions to fall in love – V

Today is a good day to answer another question from the series: 36 Questions – How to fall in love; published by the New York Times.

If you are new to the blog and want to start at the beginning of this series, you can click here.

The fifth question of the series askes:

When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?

When I am happy, I sing a lot to myself. Then, I also dance like nobody is watching. And thankfully nobody is =). At the moment, I don’t sing to myself so often, or I do it for a different reason. As I wrote about in a previous entry, music is a means to process my emotions and feelings. So, the last time I sang to myself was while I was in my hotel room. I was sad, and my emotions welled up and I needed an outlet for the energy rising within. I sang along the lines of Over it by Macklemore. It is an intense experience, because I feel my emotions very clearly while singing and immersing myself in the music. I hope I will sing more to myself again. But this time out of happiness =)

The last time(s) I sang to someone was to sing for their birthday. Nothing fancy, just the classic happy birthday. Once for my mom and another time for my ex-girlfriend. I don’t really know if it is bearable to hear me sing. But, I like singing for people who mean a lot to me. And so far, nobody called Amnesty International for a human rights violation =) Or they are just too polite. Anyhow, singing for myself and others is something I enjoy doing and it is even better when you sing together.

So, when was the last time you sang to yourself or for someone else?

Have a wonderful day and take care =)

Stephan
