What do your evenings look like? And, have you ever thought about it? I want to share one thing I regularly do during my evenings, which I call the concept of the last hour.
Let me start with a confession. I should do this more often! The concept of the last hour has many benefits, but let me start explaining what it is.
Plain and simple, it is about my last hour of the day, before I go to sleep. The essence of it is, that I consciously choose, how to spend those last 60 minutes or 3600 seconds. However, for me it isn’t about doing only one specific thing or starting a routine, but rather to listen to my body, heart or brain and what they want to do. Sometimes I read a book, another time I watch a movie, or I listen to music, or I meditate, or call a friend… you get the idea =)
So why is it different than any normal evening? Because, I consciously chose to do this. I don’t act out of an autopilot or boredom. It helps me to live more in the present moment by choosing consciously how I want to spend the present. Often, life is something that just happens to me. I don’t really like that, and I want to be the captain of my own ship and sail over the ocean called life.
Furthermore, it is something to show love for myself. By listening to myself and trying to figure out what it is that is good for me right now, I appreciate my own needs. It is actually a small thing every one of us can do, who struggles with self-love. As you would dedicate time for someone you like, you should do the same for you, too. It is always good you like the persons you are surrounded by and I am always with myself. So, it is a win-win =)
